Peer Review Process
Peer Review Process
Jurnal Ilmiah Biosaintropis (Bioscience-Tropic) is a journal published by the Biology study program, Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty, Universitas Islam Malang. Research articles submitted to this online journal undergo a double-blind review process by at least two reviewers.
Accepted research articles will be available online (free download) following the journal peer-reviewing process. The final decision on article acceptance is made by the Editors according to the Reviewers' comments. Plagiarism detection is carried out using turnitin.com. The languages used in this journal are English and Bahasa Indonesia.
The 7-Step Peer Review Flow
Manuscripts are submitted via the online system supported by the Open Journal System (OJS). However, to facilitate authors, Jurnal Ilmiah Biosaintropis also accepts paper submissions by email.
The Editor in Chief first assesses the paper for originality, significance, and appropriateness. Manuscripts may be rejected if they do not fit the focus and scope or fail to meet Author Guidelines. Every manuscript that passes this step is checked by Turnitin to identify plagiarism.
The handling editor sends invitations to appropriate reviewers based on expertise and absence of conflicts of interest. The double-blind peer review ensures that reviewers do not know the author’s identity. Each manuscript is sent to at least two reviewers.
Potential reviewers decide to accept or decline the invitation based on their expertise and availability. If they decline, they may suggest alternative reviewers.
Reviewers conduct a detailed point-by-point evaluation. They submit their recommendation to the journal: accept, reject, or request revisions (major or minor).
The editor sends a decision email to the author, including anonymous reviewer comments. Reviewers are also notified of the final outcome.
If accepted, the manuscript moves to production. If revisions are required, the author must revise the paper according to instructions and resubmit it with a cover page checklist. Minor changes may be verified by the editor, while major revisions are typically sent back to the original reviewers.
