Abstract

This study aims to determine the structure of the gastropod community including type, diversity, uniformity, dominance, and distribution patterns in the intertidal zone of Motaain Beach, Motaain Village, West Malaka District, Malaka Regency. This study was conducted in March 2025 with data collection at one station. The transect method used in this study was a quadrat with plot placement on each transect line. Data analysis included diversity index, uniformity, dominance, and distribution patterns. Based on the results of the study, 7 species of gastropods from 5 families were obtained, namely Nerita lineata, Cerithidea quoyii, Letterend olive, Terebralia palustris, Canarium mutabile, Telescopium telescopium, Ellobium aurisjudae. The diversity (H’) of this station is categorized as moderate because the index value obtained at this station is 1.619 including the criteria 1 < H < 3. The uniformity (E) of this station is categorized as having high uniformity because the uniformity value obtained at this station is 0.83, including the criteria <0.00 (E). The dominance (C) of this station is categorized as low because the dominance value at this station is 0.21 including the criteria (C < 0.50). The distribution pattern (id) of this station is categorized as clustered because the distribution value at this station is 0.994 including the criteria ip > 0. The average value of environmental parameters is temperature 29℃, average salinity 30.5 ppt, average pH value 6.5 and current velocity 0.365 m/s.
