Knowledge of the ABO and Rhesus blood group systems plays an essential role in blood transfusion practices, population genetics studies, and the resolution of forensic cases such as paternity disputes. This study aimed to determine the phenotypic proportions and allele frequencies of the ABO and Rhesus blood group systems in the Arab ethnic population residing in Kampung Arab, Bondowoso Regency. The research samples were collected randomly using a lottery technique, involving a total of 315 participants. Blood group identification was performed using the slide test method, which is based on agglutination reactions between antigens (agglutinogens) and antibodies (agglutinins). determination of blood group was carried out by the antigen-antibody agglutination test. The results showed the phenotypic distribution of blood groups as follows: A+ (31.13%), B+ (25.68%), O+ (38.91%), and AB+ (4.28%). The allele frequencies for the ABO system were IA (0.223), IB (0.143), and i (0.634), while the frequency of the positive Rhesus allele (D) was 1. This study provides an overview of the distribution patterns of blood groups and genetic variation within the Arab ethnic community in Bondowoso, which may serve as a foundation for future population genetics research and medical applications.
